Moth To A Flame: The Grunge Life

Since I started college I have been transforming my style constantly. So far one of my favorite styles is "grunge". It consist of everything I love about fashion: expressing yourself in a unique way with not-so-expensive items.

WHAT EXACTLY IS GRUNGE?

Because grunge has really been developing into what it is now since the 80's and 90's, it's really hard to pinpoint EXACTLY what it is. After Nirvana released their album Nevermind, the grunge scene blossomed. The style is all about what you want it to be. It gives off a sense of "I just don't care" about it all, embraces messy hair, and A LOT OF LAYERS. Most pieces are either reminiscent of the 90's, or have been produced to look like it would have been worn during that time. Grunge is not just a style of clothing though; it is also a lifestyle to many twentysomethings of our time. The carefree, nonchalant, and effortless feel of the style is intriguing to anyone who just loved the 90's.

WHY I LOVE IT:

I am one of those people who loved the 90's. It was such an awkward time because of the transition into the new millennium that everyone was preparing for. The music, movies, and television shows were still so REAL. The fashion was all about comfort and looking "cool". I just love everything about it. Honestly, I think the style just makes me wish that I was the age I am now, but in the 90's. Now, I like to embrace the grunge style because I love the effortless look (not to mention it is quite easy to pull off).
