Since this is the second and last weekend of Coachella. I thought I would use this weekend's set list as inspiration! If you didn't already know, Coachella is a huge music festival held in Indio, California. This is the festival to be seen at, and the one that celebrities frequent the most. I desperately wish to be there right now, but let's face it... I am a college student who can not afford to go to California for any reason right now. I will be going to Bonnaroo for the 3rd time this summer with my boyfriend Bo and my dad, so I will for sure be posting about that when the time comes. So anyways, let's take a listen!

Just wanted to do a quick post, I apologize for this not being more in depth haha. I hope everyone enjoys this beautiful day, and have a Happy Easter! Now it's time to do some studying for next week's finals...

This week I have gone with a theme: GIRL POWER. I've always seemed to be more into bands with female singers, or all female for that matter. SO THIS WEEK GOES OUT TO ALL THE GIRLS IN THE WORLD, enjoy!

1. Fancy- Iggy Azalea ft. Charlie XCX

Iggy Azalea is someone I was actually following on Instagram and had no idea she was a singer. When I saw Charlie XCX post about the video on Insta, I checked it out and fell in love. SO CATCHY. And the video....everything about this homage to Clueless is a 90's girl's dream come back to life.

2. Say You'll Be There- MØ

FIRST OF ALL why has there not already been a cover to any Spice Girls songs? I mean really, they are all amazing songs. So I was VERY excited when I discovered this cover by MØ. I love her style, especially when it comes to her fashion choices. Definitely someone to keep your eye on.

3. If I Could Change You're Mind- HAIM

The Haim sisters are a perfect mix of  LA and soft rock. This is one of those you-can't-sit-still-because-it's-so-groovy songs. Perfect for this warmer weather we are beginning to have. These girls have gotten pretty big over the past year, and I can't wait to see what they will do next!

4. Elephant-Warpaint

Ahhhh,Warpaint. We go pretty far back. This is a band that one of my best friends Eric and I have been listening to together since our freshman year of college. Needless to say, they have only gotten better throughout the years. This song is so hauntingly intriguing that you can't just listen to it once. An all girl band that is worth looking into.

5. Put Your Curse On Me- Stonefield

I stumbled upon this band today, and the first thing I thought was, "Wow, this sounds like something my dad would actually like" (I already posted this video to his facebook wall). With that being said, I LOVE THIS. It's always good to see that good girl bands still exist, but good rock&roll from a girl band? Now that's hard to come by. I will for sure be looking more into this band.

6. Hand In My Pocket-Alanis Morissette

There can not ever be a collection of girl power songs without Alanis involved. This song is and always will be in my top 10 favorite songs ever. This song is an anthem for twenty-somethings everywhere to this day. And it always will be. And should be!

Last Friday was awesome. Bo, my good friend Dustin, and myself saw Tyler, The Creator at The Tabernacle in Atlanta! All I can say is WOW. What a show. After we left, I felt so happy and free of negativity because we screamed, danced, and raged so hard. It was by far one of the craziest things I have seen.

Now we just have to get our tickets to see Earl Sweatshirt in May!

Hello everyone! I have been very busy with school these past couple months, have been without my own computer, and it has all been exhausting. Hopefully it all pays off at the end of the semester, which is approaching very quickly! Thursday of this week is my last day of classes until my Spring Break starts. My wonderful boyfriend Bo and I will be visiting my grandma in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, and it is going to be amazing just to relax for the week. With that being said, here are my songs of the week for everyone who is already on Spring Break and everyone else out there counting down the minutes.
1. Ungirthed by Purity Ring

This song is not new by any means, but it is still catchier than ever. I adore this band, and they are awesome live. We saw them at Bonnaroo last summer and were blown away by how much she sounded like herself on the album, voice alterations and all. Very cool band that I have many fond memories attached to.
2. Stand Still (feat. Micky Green) [Wave Racer Remix] by Flight Facilities

This may just be the happiest song I've heard in months. Seriously. If you clicked play on this video and are currently listening and do not have a smile on your face, then you are wrong haha. Really though, Wave racer does some amazing things with adorable sounds, especially water/raindrops, and that's all you really need to draw me in!

3. I. the worst guys(feat. Chance the Rapper) by Childish Gambino

Yes, Childish Gambino again. He deserves it. This song is so chill, and the video fits the vibe perfectly. My favorite part about this video is when they are in the ocean and the camera is underwater. The music is muffled whilst underwater, but returns to normal above water. It's little quirks like this that make me appreciate a music video.

4. Mirror Maru by Cashmere Cat

Boy oh boy this song has been constantly playing in my head for day. Cashmere Cat's style is so quirky and unique, which naturally I was drawn to. I love the squeaky chair and syncopated beats are to die for.
5. Say That by Toro y Moi

SO GROOVY. I mean really. This used to play at rue21 when I worked there, but was just recently shown to me again by a friend. Everything about this is great. The video, the beats, and especially those glasses.

It's been a long time coming! So let's dive on into what I've been listening to lately.

1. Disclosure- You & Me (Flume Remix)

This song has been on repeat everywhere I go. I absolutely can not get enough of it. My favorite place to listen to it would have to be my car though. Feeling the bass is one of my favorite things about any kind of music. And then theres the video. I mean come on. It's all just perfect.

2. Childish Gambino-  V. 3005

Gambino's new album, because the internet, was a fresh, new kind of Gambino. And I must say I really love this Gambino. We saw him at Bonnaroo in 2012 and he was amazing then, which makes me very intrigued to see this album performed. This video is very simple, yet very beautiful. I didn't even notice the bear moving throughout the video until I watched it a second time. Nicely done.

3. Sky Ferreira- You're Not The One

I have followed Sky on Instagram for a lot longer than I have listened to her music. I was not expecting her music to be what it is, and boy was I hooked. I love anything that is reminiscent of the late 80's, early 90's, and she captures that nostalgia perfectly. And the fact that she will be on the BANGERZ tour makes me love her even more! 

4. Odd Future- Rella

oh, Odd Future, what have you done? I AM OBSESSED. I can't stop listening to them. Everyday. All of them. There is so much involved with their lyrics, inside jokes, and different personalities, that it is easy to get sucked in quickly. I must say BRAVO. They get it. They do not care what other people think WHATSOEVER. Their weird charm has won me over.

5. Earl Sweatshirt- Whoa

Again with the Odd Future. Earl's album "Doris" is beautiful in my opinion. His poetic flow sets him apart from other rappers. He uses peculiar words and knows what words work for him. Until you can sit down and listen carefully to his lyrics, you haven't really listened to Earl.

I have kind of been stuck in a rut when it comes to new music, but I'm about to start sorting through all the artists that Spotify keeps annoyingly emailing me about every single week to try to find something fun and new!

I apologize for not being on top of this blog the past two weeks. School and work have been crazy! Since school started I haven't been able to find my groove with balancing everything but I'm almost there! So hang in there with me guys! I will be doing a fashion post either tonight or tomorrow, but for now here are my tunes of the week! I know, I know, it's already Saturday. But still. Here ya go.

1. Royals by Lorde

Lorde is once again on my list because each song I hear of hers makes me fall in love even more. I adore the simple beat of this song and that she uses her strong voice as the focal point of the song. Plus if a song has any kind of choir going on in it, whether it's 20 people or 3, then you've got me hooked. And the video is everything i imagined it to be for this particular song.

2. Diane Young by Vampire Weekend

This song is one the many that I actually discover while I'm on the clock at rue21. Our track lists never seem to let me down. I've always like Vampire Weekend since I got to college and I love their new album "Modern Vampire of the City" that came out on May 14th. This video somewhat resembles the Last Supper, but also features cameos by Sanitgold, Sky Ferreira, and Chromeo's David Macklovitch and Patrick Gemayel just to name a few!

3. I Wanted You To Stay by Summer Heart

This song is so calming and pleasant to listen to. It is also good driving music! I discovered this song on on of my favorite tumblrs and instantly added it to my Spotify playlist. If you want something good to chill out and listen to, this is it!

4. Holy Grail by JAY Z ft. Justin Timberlake

I absolutely love everything that JAY Z puts out (fun fact, he removed the hyphen from his name) and his new album "Magna Carta... Holy Grail" is so tasty! Even though I'm from the south, I prefer northern rappers. This song is just one of many that I really love from the new album and I can't wait to see what his next big hit will be! This video is a little different from how the actual song is on the album, but BRAVO to the way they chopped and screwed it.

5. Breezeblocks by alt-J

 

My boyfriend Bo got me into alt-J and we were able to catch some of their set at Bonnaroo this year! Their creative mixture of simple beats and the singer's abstract voice makes their music irresistible. This song has to be my favorite from their album "An Awesome Wave". Their music videos are pretty out there but those are always my favorite kinds.

I've been hard at work trying to get my blog set up the way I want, so again, bear with me on the appearance. But in the midst of all the construction, I wanted to share what songs I am hooked on this week. I say this week because it seems like every week I'm onto something else. Music is a huge part of my life (I was a band kid for like, 9 years, so you can't blame me) and this is something I want to start doing every week! SO here we go!

1. I'm God [Lil B] by Clams Casino

The Imogen Heap sample is my favorite part about this sick song!

2. Tennis Court by Lorde 

There are so many things I love about this song, this video, this artist, just everything about it. This song is perfect for riding in the car, windows down, loving life.

3. Parix by When Saints Go Machine

I came across this songs while listening to Spotify radio (not sure what artist) and fell in love. I love the style that it is sung in and the way they mixed high and low voices for the chorus!

4. Raindrops on Roses by An-Tea-Nae ft. Alice D

Okay this song is all kinds of trippy and crazy! Which are two things that I love in a good song. Yet this song can also be creepy because of the childlike voice that is rapping the whole time. I must say that my favorite part of this whole song is the constant raindrop sample. I love a good raindrop song!

5. Cool Party by Groundislava

I can't even begin to pinpoint a certain thing I love about this, because the whole thing is flawless. At some points it even reminds me of Shifting Sand Land in Super Mario 64 lol. All in all, this is great chill music.
